Tell us what you did before image consultancy?
I have been a Personal Trainer since early 2000. I currently operate my own Home PT Studio on Doreen where I see clients face to face 1:1 as well as Group Fitness and Bootcamps for ages 8-16. I am also currently studying for my Certificate in Nutrition .
What made you choose to become an image consultant? What drew you to it?
I was sick to death if walking into my waredrobe and having so many clothes and ’nothing to wear’ the colours were drab and boring and I felt drab and boring. I also wore a lot of active wear and needed to feel, well wanted to feel more confident and attractive when I went out & Less frumpy!
I had a waredrobe audit done online and I loved the way cleaning out my wardrobe made me feel more in control and less cluttered. I also feel relieved to get rid of clothes that I didn’t wear, it’s like I knew they didn’t suit me I just needed someone to tell me why! Where it be the colour style (or both!) . I then thought well if I can feel that good, I can help other too. I already help them look better with exercise and food imagine if I could add the whole package.
What made you decide that it was time to do your training and take up this new career?
I wanted a change, I was getting a little stagnant in my career with PT , hence why I started the Nutrition Certificate. Add another notch to my belt, and well adding the Colour and now style will, I feel just be perfect. Id also like to transition out of PT at some point and really delve into my creative side a bit more with colour and styling.
What are you passionate about?
Helping people . It’s just what I have done min my career for so long. I love helping others feel good and happy. I think thats been my drive since I can remember.
Who do you most enjoy working with? How do you love to help them?
I love seeing the change in women who are mid age, or going through a transition whether that be age or life events. Ive been through some major milestones in my life, 2 divorces ,” moving & loving overseas for 10 years, changing states and having no family around. I love helping people through tough times and helping them discover themselves again. Or just discover incase they never found who they were. I love showing them outside the box. Just because there are rules, we dont need to always follow them. Choose happiness.
How does having a good image help people in their lives?
It helps them show up as themselves or boost their confidence to show up as a better version of themselves. A good image can help define that person or it can help show us who they are – whether it be through creative dressing and colour or showing a workplace who the boss is and gain respect. It;s showing up in the world as YOU.
How can you help people create a more impactful and relevant image for themselves?
I can show them their potential, the possibilities and to step outside of the box, even if it’s a little step first. To embrace their bodies and accentuate the parts you love. To support them through a change. To be a role model. To be vulnerable and share my experiences and how discovering that e have a choice on how we show up in the world and we can do that with simple things in our waredrobes.
Anything else you’d like to tell us?
Id love to help as many women and men as possible in my new career. I want to forever continue to expand my knowledge and learn and share this. I have dreamt of colour ever since I started this course and every day I have worked on my style , colour and knowledge to learn. I have shopped more in the past 5 months that I ever had, trying to on new styles and colours and watching how others dress. It’s like it is opened a wholeness world for me and I love it.
