Most courses show you a highlight reel. We’ll just give you the lessons.

You can’t tell whether training is any good from a sales page. You can tell in about twenty minutes of actually reading it.

So here’s Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 from our Personal Stylist and Image Mastery programme. Not a rewritten teaser version. The same lessons our enrolled students work through, quizzes included.

Read them, and you’ll know two things: whether this subject genuinely interests you, and whether the way we teach it suits how you learn.

What's Actually in Them

Lesson 1: An Introduction to Image Training

✔ What an image consultant actually does, across appearance, behaviour and communication, and the full list of services you could offer

✔ Why clients come to you in the first place, and why choice paralysis has made this work more necessary than it was thirty years ago

✔ The Central Michigan University research, commissioned by AICI, on what image consulting does to a person’s self-esteem

✔ The four parts of self-image, and why congruence between them is what actually produces confidence

✔ Maslow’s hierarchy applied to clothing, from protection right through to self-actualisation. This is the framework that explains why a client cries in a changing room over a jacket

✔ The economics of appearance, including Daniel Hamermesh’s work on the measurable earnings gap between attractive and unattractive people

Lesson 2: The First Impression

✔ Alexander Todorov’s Princeton research showing a first impression forms in a tenth of a second, and the three dimensions people judge you on in that time

✔ Why first impressions are more dangerous than obvious biases, in Todorov’s own words, because nobody thinks they’re a problem

✔ Thin-slicing, and how the filter people build in the first seconds quietly rejects any later evidence to the contrary

✔ The halo and horn effect, and how one visible trait gets generalised into an entire personality

✔ What the research says people conclude about status, intelligence and dominance from appearance alone, with the studies referenced so you can go and read them yourself

Bonus: The Colour Theory webinar

A walk through the actual science of colour. Hue, value, contrast, and why colour behaves the way it does against skin. This is the foundation the Absolute Colour System is built on, and it’s the part most colour training skips straight past on the way to telling people they’re an Autumn.

What This Tells You About The Rest

Two lessons out of thirty-one.

The full women’s styling programme runs to thirty-one lessons. Face shape and hairstyle. Body proportion, horizontal and vertical. Line, volume and refinement. Print, pattern and fabric. Fit and quality indicators. Communication skills, including psychological type and how to build rapport with a client who is nothing like you. Wardrobe audits, capsule wardrobes, shopping strategy, and how to run a consultation from start to finish.

Every claim is referenced. Every principle has reasoning underneath it, not just a rule to memorise.

That’s the difference these two lessons are meant to demonstrate. Most styling training hands you rules. This hands you the reasoning, so when a client turns up who fits none of the rules, you’re not stuck.

Who it's for

This is worth your time if you’ve been quietly wondering whether you could do this professionally. Whether you’ve been styling friends for years, worked in fashion retail and wanted to understand the why, or you’re mid-career and restless and this keeps coming back to you.

It’s also worth your time if you’re already working as a stylist and you suspect there are gaps in what you were taught. There usually are.

Taught by Imogen Lamport, AICI CIP

Nearly twenty years working as a personal stylist and colour consultant, and training other consultants since 2006. Creator of the Absolute Colour System, eighteen palettes now used by consultants across more than a dozen countries. Past board member of the Association of Image Consultants International, both in Australia and internationally.

Our programmes are internationally accredited by AICI, the peak professional body for this industry.

“I got so much value out of the Personal Stylist and Image Mastery online modules. I went into the Women’s Styling Course with some knowledge however I was very surprised at just how much more there was to learn. I found this program extremely thorough covering so many topics. Each lesson was detailed and clear.”

FAQs

Yes. No card, no trial that quietly starts billing you, no phone call from anyone.

Set aside an hour for the two lessons. The webinar is separate and you can watch it whenever.

You’ll hear from me about the training and about colour and style generally. Unsubscribe whenever you like and I won’t take it personally.

Then the free lessons have done their job, and you’ve saved yourself several thousand dollars and a lot of second-guessing. That’s a good outcome.

Have a look before you decide anything.

Two lessons, one webinar, no cost.

Notes for You

One research flag, and I think it matters.

Lesson 2 uses Mehrabian’s 55/38/7 split. That statistic is very widely misapplied. Mehrabian’s 1971 studies measured how people resolve inconsistent messages about feelings and attitudes, specifically when the words and the tone conflict. It was never intended as a breakdown of all communication, and Mehrabian himself has publicly said so. It’s one of the most commonly repeated errors in the image industry.

I’ve deliberately left it out of the landing page. Given the rest of the manual is properly referenced, and “every claim is referenced” is a genuine selling point for you, it might be worth revisiting how that section is framed in the course itself. Happy to draft a replacement paragraph that keeps the point about visual dominance in first impressions while standing on firmer ground. Todorov’s work already does that job for you in the same lesson.

Everything else checks out. Todorov, Hamermesh, Nelissen and Meijers, Swami and Furnham, Mannes, and the Central Michigan University AICI study are all real and correctly attributed in the manual.

Decisions I made without you, since you didn’t get to the question:

  • The page sells the free lessons only, with the price rise as a small footer note. Mixing a free offer with a hard sell usually damages both. If you’d rather it carried the full enrolment pitch, say so and I’ll extend it.
  • I’ve used the actual lesson contents rather than generic promises. This is the whole reason the page will work. “Alexander Todorov’s Princeton research on the tenth of a second” is a far better hook than “learn about first impressions.”
  • The thirty-one lesson count comes from the quiz numbering in your manual. Worth a sanity check before it goes live.

What I still need for the build:

  • The signup form URL or embed. The current site link is a popup anchor, which won’t fire reliably from an email click.
  • Whether the delivery is instant download, drip email, or portal access. That should be stated on the page so people know what happens next.

Got Question.

Send us an email or make a no-pressure time to chat with Imogen directly so you can be sure this is the right path for you.
