Tell us what you did before image consultancy?
Many different things! I’ve worked in government, banking, retail, customer service, records management, data analysis, reporting and project management. My first job out of university was as a blackjack dealer.
What made you choose to become an image consultant? What drew you to it?
In 2024, I found I had the space to focus on myself. I started regular strength training, lost weight and felt healthier and stronger than I had in years. That renewed energy reignited my excitement for clothes and fashion.
But when I looked at my wardrobe, I realised most of my clothes didn’t make me feel good. I was buying clothes based on what fit, rather than what I loved. This insight and the idea of dressing with purpose in a way that felt like ‘me’ is what drew me to image consultancy.
What made you decide that it was time to do your training and take up this new career?
Wanting to rebuild my wardrobe, I began looking to have a colour analysis done. But living in Bendigo, I couldn’t find anyone nearby offering colour consultations. While searching, I discovered the Academy of Professional Image.
Instead of just booking a session for myself, I felt it was the perfect time to take the training. It allowed me to deepen my own understanding of colour and style while also opening the door to offer these services to others in regional Victoria.
What are you passionate about?
Listening to music and family history has always given me a lot of joy. I collect vinyl albums (over 500 at last count). I ticked off a bucket list item in 2022, when I saw my favourite 80s band, Duran Duran, play live, not once but four times.
As my family’s archivist, I have many treasured items. My favourite is the bundle of letters my grandmother received during World War II.
Who do you most enjoy working with? How do you love to help them?
I love working with people who are navigating life transitions. It could be changes in health, weight, career or a shift in their role at home or in their relationships.
Whether it’s because of a life transition, for a big event, or for everyday moments, I love sharing with my clients the tools and strategies to simplifying the process of dressing and shopping.
How does having a good image help people in their lives?
In two ways:
- When how you look on the outside reflects who you are on the inside, you feel great and show up in your life with more confidence, authenticity and ease.
- When you can open your wardrobe and know what to wear without stress and shop with purpose instead of frustration, you’ll give yourself time to enjoy doing the things you love to do.
How can you help people create a more impactful and relevant image for themselves?
I love giving my clients practical tools they can use every day to create a wardrobe and style that feels natural to them. I want to hear about their likes, dislikes and ideas for their style and then work with them to help them see their own personality and style in their colours.
Anything else you’d like to tell us?
Living in regional Victoria, I’m passionate about making image and colour consultancy available locally.
At home, I’m happiest with my cavoodle, Notch, by my side and an almond flat white in hand. Bendigo’s coffee scene never disappoints!
