Adele Facchini

Tell us what you did before image consultancy?
I worked 9-5 in pharmaceutical advertising where I quickly realised there had to be more to life! In this time, I started a weekend job doing freelance make up artistry which I still also do.

What made you choose to become an image consultant? What drew you to it?
It sounds strange to say but I have always been a colour girl! I was always gifted at visual arts, all the way through school and then again in university, and my work was always bright and colourful. I also realised I have Synesthesia, which explains why every number, word, day of the week etc that I think of in my mind comes with an associated colour which I’ve subconsciously given it… it allows me to remember things really well!

This background meant that make up artistry was a natural job for me, and colour theory was something I always wanted to learn more of so that I could more confidently apply make up… when I realised it could be a whole job in itself, it felt like I’d hit the jackpot.

What made you decide that it was time to do your training and take up this new career?
At my office job I was asked to organise a small Christmas party/activity for the wider team, and for some reason I decided it would be a good idea to give everyone their ‘season’, because at the time it was all over my social media and I was interested in it personally. I did an abundance of research on it all and presented my findings, along with my predictions, to the team (some of which, I now look back on with regret!). I could not BELIEVE how much everyone enjoyed it… everyone was talking about it for months afterwards – men, women, old, young… the feedback was incredible and I realised there really was something I this- all I had to do was make the first step.

What are you passionate about?
Colour, make up, healthy lifestyles, travel, building the life you want, reducing waste from overconsumption, iced lattes, cats.

Who do you most enjoy working with? How do you love to help them?
Through my freelance make up artistry job, I have experience with working with a variety of people who don’t know me and vice versa. It can be tricky because everyone feels and expresses emotion differently, and everyone has different comfort zones. You can feel energies when clients sit in your chair.

I love working with people who may not be 100% sure of themselves at the start. I am a people person, so I get satisfaction knowing I somehow made them feel better or more confident about themselves by the time I walk away from the appointment. Whether this is just reassuring them, teaching them something or just being there to have a chat (which I am very good at), I’m happy if I make some sort of positive influence on their confidence.

How does having a good image help people in their lives?
If you feel good within yourself, you put this confident and positive energy out into the world and you get good things back.

How can you help people create a more impactful and relevant image for themselves?
By reassuring them you don’t need to spend so much money on the latest designer pieces or cosmetic surgeries or buy into any of the fast fashion trends… you can be and look your best self simply by applying basic colour theory to the way you dress and do your makeup.
