Tell us what you did before image consultancy?
I started my career in advertising agencies, then went on to build and run my own businesses in weight loss and later interior design. These days I own a software distribution company, but even that has a strong creative and visual side to it, so I’ve really never moved far away from marketing, design, and visual impact. When I look back, the common thread through everything I’ve done is helping people and businesses be and look their best.

What made you choose to become an image consultant?
I’ve always loved fashion and how it can change how I feel and what I project when I step out into the day. After living in Sydney for 20 years, my wardrobe was ballooning at the same time as my body shape and stage of life were changing — and I realised I couldn’t be the only person going through this.

I decided to really take charge of my own wardrobe and properly understand what my personal style was and how to make it work for the life I actually live. That journey showed me just how powerful it is when someone feels like themselves again in their clothes, and that’s what drew me to image consulting. My background in interior design also strongly influenced this choice — the two worlds are closely aligned, especially when it comes to colour, shape, and proportion.

What made you decide that it was time to do your training and take up this new career?
For me, this was a very intentional decision. I’ve always believed that fashion and style are ageless, and I could clearly see the impact a well-considered wardrobe has on how people feel, how confidently they show up, and how easily they move through their professional and personal lives. I wanted the depth of knowledge, structure, and professional credibility to deliver this properly, which is why formal training with AOPI and stepping into image consulting felt like the right and very deliberate next step for me.

What are you passionate about?
I’ve always been passionate about design and the way it affects how we feel and how we experience the world. For me, everything starts with how something looks and, more importantly, how it makes people feel. Whether it’s fashion, interiors, architecture, art, garden design, or even digital spaces, I’m always drawn to the relationship between design and people — and how good design can genuinely improve everyday life.

Who do you most enjoy working with?
How do you love to help them? I most enjoy working with professional and business people who understand the importance of their image and know their wardrobe is no longer working for them. They’re ready to take a more considered, strategic approach to how they present themselves and to align their wardrobe with their lifestyle, personality, and unique attributes.

Many of them are surprised to discover that a large part of their wardrobe — sometimes 60% or more — simply isn’t being worn, even though they’ve invested good money in it. I love helping them turn that around: creating a wardrobe that actually functions, makes getting dressed easy, and means they feel confident and “event ready” without stress, whether it’s for work, business, or life in general.

How does having a good image help people in their lives?
Having a strong, well-considered style and image helps people show up with confidence in their professional and social lives. When your wardrobe truly works for you, it saves time, reduces uncertainty around what to wear, and allows you to focus on your work, your relationships, and engaging with others. Plus feeling fabulous about your image is a goal for most of my clients.

One of my clients summed it up beautifully when she said: “Since working with Robyn, I no longer go to work or to functions worried that I have nothing to wear or if I’ve got the tone right. I’m much more confident about my clothing choices and can now focus on engaging with others.”

How can you help people create a more impactful and relevant image for themselves?
I work with my clients to create a more impactful and intentional image through a considered, design-led approach that looks at the complete picture — from style personality, their optimal colour palette, and unique features, through to wardrobe editing, accessories, and clear shopping priorities. I also provide guidance on hair and makeup to ensure everything works together, while keeping the focus on what feels authentic and sustainable for them. My work is grounded in a clear framework that ensures nothing is left to chance and everything works together.

The outcome is a wardrobe and personal style that is cohesive, intentional, and beautifully aligned to who they are and the life they live. The process builds confidence and delivers a highly functional, elegant wardrobe. Shopping can be done together as part of the process — which is a fantastic learning experience for clients — or fully managed by me, depending on what suits them best. I also offer seasonal updates to ensure their style continues to evolve in step with their lifestyle and career.

Anything else you’d like to tell us?
Seeing my clients’ reaction to the end result is the absolute highlight for me. That “aha” moment is what I work for. I feel genuinely privileged to be invited into their lives and trusted with something so personal. Hearing how the process has changed the way they feel, how they show up, and how they move through their days is exactly why I love what I do.
